Class Schedule for Spring Term 2017. Spring Term begins April 4 and ends June 8, 2017. Summer Term schedule will be posted very soon!
Navajo style weaving and Tapestry. Tuesday and Thursday. 10am-3pm. $170 plus materials. Class fee is for one day a week. Students can come twice a week if they wish to use the second day as studio time.
Audrey Moore and Kevynne Layne teach Navajo style weaving and Terry Olson teaches Tapestry. Each student works on his/her individual project at his/her own speed, learning new techniques, learning how to use the tools and materials required, and how to choose and make designs. Please note that Terry Olson will only be teaching on Tuesdays. Thursday may be used as studio time.
Knitting Class is held in two five-week terms. First session,March 29 to April 26. Second session, May 3 to May 31. Classes are on Wednesday afternoon, 1-3pm. Five week session is $50 or $12 per week drop in. Materials are not provided.
Claudia Standley is the instructor. She says to bring your own yarn and needle, knit the project of your choice. Relax and have fun. She will show you at least one helpful hint to improve your knitting skills, such as how to pick up a dropped stitch, eliminate stair steps on the shoulder bind off, or find that lost yarn-over.
Spinning Workshops, Saturday, May 20, and Saturday, May 27. Each day costs $30 plus $5 materials fee. 10am to 3pm.
Spinning Workshops taught by Dianne Langtry are for beginning spinners and for those who would like to improve or change their spinning habits. Students will be able to proceed at their own pace while learning about worsted and woolen styles of spinning; spinning singles and plying; preparing wool for spinning by combing and carding. The goal is for each person to learn a style of spinning that feels comfortable and productive. Bring a lunch and a pair of socks so you can spin in stocking feet. Wheels can be provided for those who don’t have one. Dianne is an experienced spinner and teacher.
Acid Dye Basics, One-day Workshops Saturday, April 22, and Saturday May 20. Class is $45, plus $5 for dyestuff/handout, plus $3 each for one-ounce skeins of wool. Class begins at 9am and usually ends around 4pm. Limit four (4) maximum students. (If you want to bring your own wool yarn, you must discuss with instructor PRIOR to day of class.)
In this one-day workshop with Sandy Kennard, learn how to use Acid Dyes for beautiful and colorful results with your wool yarn. You will get hands-on experience mixing different primaries to achieve specific and unique colors of yarn.
Participants will learn to use ProChemical Washfast Acid Dyes. This class of dye is known for good light-fastness, wash-fastness, ease of use, and rich colors. We will cover the process from beginning to end: wool preparation, mixing dyes, and developing your own color “recipes”.
Ravenstail Twining, Fall Term Only, 10am to 3pm. $100 plus $50 materials. Free loom plans or we can make you one for $85. No dates yet, but it is usually mid-October to mid-November.
John Beard teaches a class for beginning and intermediate students on Thursdays this fall. This workshop includes some history and culture about this style of weaving. Using high quality materials, you will make a small project like a medicine bag. John also teaches one day a month for students who need continuing instruction, usually first Thursday.
