Bob Van Slyke is a big fan of Navajo style weaving. He has a collection of authentic rugs purchased in the Southwest, but those rugs made him want to weave his own. Bob then learned to weave on the Navajo style loom from Audrey Moore at the Damascus Fiber Arts School. He weaves very quickly and has amassed about 14 rugs in 5 years. That number keeps changing!
Bob’s gallery of Navajo style rugs filled the walls last year. He gave a talk on the styles and regions of each rug. Many of his designs are taken directly from the Navajo traditional rugs he has seen in person and in magazines and books. He weaves them for his own home.
